New Policy

The Fitness for Duty/Fitness for Participation Policy (No. 2.12.3, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/02/2_12_3FitnessforDutyFitnessforParticipation.html) was created to address safety issues caused by an employee's or student's potential physical or mental issue. Employees with questions regarding this policy should contact Human Resources – Employee Relations. Students with questions regarding this policy should contact the applicable school’s Student Affairs office.

Revised Policies

The Solicitation on Campus Policy (No. 2.05, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/02/2_05.html) has been revised to reflect current requirements of The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System. For questions regarding the definition of solicitation, contact the Office of Legal Affairs. For questions regarding the approval of solicitation activities, contact the Vice President and Chief Auxiliary Enterprises Officer.

The Textbooks and Other Materials Prescribed for Students Policy (No. 4.14, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/04/4_14.html) has been revised to reflect current requirements for the approval of the use of textbooks, notebooks, manuals or other materials written or prepared by faculty members in courses offered by the university. For questions regarding this policy, contact the Office of Academic Affairs.

The Student Employment Appointments Policy (No. 6.09, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/06/6_09.html) has been revised to reflect current procedures. Inquiries regarding specific student appointments should be directed to the office of the appropriate dean.

The Service Providers Policy (No. 12.01, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/12/12_01.html) has been revised to reflect current definitions of university service providers. For questions regarding this policy, contact Finance.

The Minors in the Workplace Policy (No. 18.12, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/18/18_12.html) has been revised to reflect current procedures for minors who participate in a study project, visit, or are employed by the university. Questions concerning the safety requirements for minors should be directed to the Office of Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management. Questions concerning the employment of minors should be directed to Human Resources.

The Conduct of Research Policy (No. 23.01, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/23/23_01.html) has been revised to reflect additional statutory reporting requirements for principal investigators who publish results of National Institutes of Health funded research. For questions concerning this policy, contact the Office of Research.

Combined Policies

The Criminal Background Check Policy (No. 2.63) and the Criminal Background Checks: Students Policy (No. 6.19) have been combined. The combined policy is the Criminal Background Check Policy (No. 2.12.2, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/02/2_12_2.html). For questions regarding this policy as it relates to employment, contact Human Resources -  Employment Services. For questions regarding this policy as it relates to students, contact the applicable school’s Office of Student Affairs.

Deleted Policies

The Access to University Information Policy (No. 2.29) has been deleted. Refer to HOOP Policies 2.29A Access to Personnel Information or 17.07 Handling Requests for Public Information.

The Job-Related Training and Education: Internal Policy (No. 2.44) has been deleted. Refer to the Training & Resource Center.

The Scholarship Policy (No. 4.25) has been deleted. Please refer to the Statement on Scholarship linked in HOOP Policies 4.05 Faculty Promotion and 4.06 Faculty Tenure.

The Establishing a Support Department Funded by State Appropriations Policy (No. 12.02), the Establishing a Service Department Policy (No. 12.03), the Managing a Service Department Policy (No. 12.04), the Service Center Guidelines Policy (No. 12.05), and the Using a Service Department Policy (No. 12.06) have been deleted. Refer to HOOP Policy 12.01 Service Providers.
