Revised Policies

The Vacation Policy (No. 2.38, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/02/2_38.html) has been revised to include information regarding vacation accrual for return to work retirees. For questions regarding eligibility for or use of vacation, contact Human Resources – Employee Relations. For questions regarding the transfer of vacation leave, contact Payroll.

The Job-Related Training and Education: External Policy (No. 2.45, http://legal.uth.tmc.edu/hoop/02/2_45.html) has been revised. Eligible employees must sign a formal agreement, in which the employee agrees to remain in the employment of the university for at least one full month for each semester hour of tuition assistance reimbursed, beginning with the month after the month in which the employee completed the coursework and to repay the university for all expenses for which the employee was reimbursed if the employment terminates before the end of that period.  An employee who fails to complete course work, and who was awarded time off to do so, may be required to reimburse the university for all costs associated with the training period, including any amounts of the employee’s salary not accounted for as paid vacation or compensatory leave.  Additionally, information has been added regarding the tax consequences of reimbursement to the employee and reimbursement amount limitations. For questions regarding the Job Related Training and Request Form, contact Human Resources – Training & Development. For questions regarding this policy, contact the Expense Reimbursement Team. The Educational Development Policy (No. 4.22) has been combined with this policy and faculty are now covered by the Job-Related Training and Education: External Policy.
